Back Acne
ByBack acne often occurs on the back or on the buttocks. When excess sebum is produced, the pores and the hair follicles are clogged creating a conducive environment for bacteria. The presence of bacteria leads to acne. Although the exact cause for this type of acne is not known, there are several factors that are known to put you at the risk of developing the disease
Wearing tight and fitting clothes that do not allow your skin to breath is one of the factors. Sweating can make your skin to produce excess sebum and this may lead to the condition. When you are used to carrying a backpack, there are chances that you can develop back acne. This is because of the constant friction created by the backpack rubbing against your clothes as well as your skin. This constant rubbing can lead to skin irritation and hence the disease.
People with long oily hair that constantly rubs on the skin of the back are also at risk. Stress is another factor that leads to the condition. When you are stressed, the brain triggers the central nervous system to send signals to the rest of the body as part of the fight or flight response. The response may include hormonal release from your adrenal glands. It may also trigger the secretion of fats from the sebaceous glands that lie beneath your skin. The fats normally clog the pores leading to breakouts.
If you have a close relative with the disease, you are more likely to suffer from the same. Back acne can be treated using benzoyl peroxide cream or gel. There are also other cream products that treat the disease.
